Geostat reveals volume of FDI to Georgia by years

The total volume of FDI attracted by Georgia during the first three quarters of 2020 amounted to $719 million, Trend reports via the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).

With $249.70 million the UK is the top investor country in Georgia for now.

For now, this is Azerbaijan that has been the major investor to Georgia four times, since 2010.

In 2019 total volume of FDI to Georgia amounted to $1.31 billion. The largest investor country was the UK with $236.58 million. FDI volume from the EU member states totaled $656.31 million from CIS member states - $139.18 million.

In 2018 total volume of FDI was $1.30 billion. The largest investor country was Azerbaijan with $246.38 million. Overall FDI from the EU member states reached $597.47 million, from CIS - $294.33 million.

In 2017 total volume of FDI was $1.97 billion. The largest investor country – Azerbaijan, with $460.49 million. Foreign investments from the EU member states: $807.59 million, from the CIS member, states: $519.34 million.

In 2016 total volume of FDI was $1.65 billion. The largest investor country was Azerbaijan, with $555.13 million. Investments from the EU member states - $415.94 million, from CIS member states $610.46 million.

In 2015 total volume of FDI was $1.72 billion. The largest investor country was Azerbaijan with $581.73 million. FDI from the EU member states was $816.49 million and from the CIS member states – $634.02 million.

In 2014 total volume of FDI amounted to $1.83 billion. The largest investor country was the Netherlands, with $420.49 million. The volume of foreign investments from the EU member states - $835.96 million and from the CIS member states - $457.69 million.

In 2013 total volume of FDI amounted to $1.03 billion. The largest investor country was the Netherlands, with $159.18 million. FDI inflow from the EU member states - $425.10 million and from CIS member states - $144.42 million.

In 2012 total volume of FDI - $1.04 billion. The major investor country was Germany, with $142.40 million. FDI inflow from the EU member states $465.59 million and from the CIS countries - $98.57 million.

In 2011 total volume of FDI - $1.13 billion. The major investor country was the Netherlands, with $244.53 million. Attracted investments from the EU member states - $492.37 million and from the CIS members - $150.33 million.

In 2010 total volume of FDI - $865.63 million. The largest investor country was the US, with $141.21 million. Foreign investments from the EU member countries amounted to $251.87 million and from the CIS members - $133.84 million.
