Kazakh tenge significantly strengthens against US dollar over week

Over the past week, the national currency of Kazakhstan went up by 7.41 tenge against the US dollar, Kazakh media reported.

On Monday, Nov. 12, the weighted average rate at the morning and afternoon sessions was 374.47 tenge per dollar, and on Friday, Nov. 16, - 367.06 tenge.

At the afternoon trading session of the US dollar on Friday, the minimum rate was 365.5 tenge per dollar, the maximum rate — 369.95 tenge, while the closing rate was 369.95 tenge per US dollar.

The trading volume amounted to $108.6 million, while the number of currency transactions totaled 214.

Meanwhile, the official rate by the National Bank of Kazakhstan on Nov. 10 is 367.06 tenge per US dollar. In the exchange offices of Astana and Almaty, the maximum selling rate of the US currency is 372 tenge.
