Passenger transport indicators up twofold in Kazakhstan

A total of 766.1 million passengers were transported in Kazakhstan by all means of transport in September 2021, which is 2.4 times more than in September 2020, Trend reports with reference to Kazakhstan’s Statistics Committee.

In turn, the volume of passengers transported over nine months of 2021 amounted to 4.9 billion people, which is 32.6 percent less year-on-year compared to 7.2 billion over the same period of last year.

Thus, the majority of the passengers were transported to Kazakhstan’s Almaty city. The number of passengers transported in the city amounted to 219.9 million people in September and 1.3 billion people over nine months of 2021, which is 2.6 times more and 15.8 percent less than during the same period last year, respectively.

Almaty city is followed by the Kostanay region with 68.2 million people transported in September 2021 (an increase of 2.4 times compared to September 2020). The number of passengers transported in the region during the reporting period amounted to 453.8 million people, which compared to 601.8 million during the same period last year, indicates a 24.6-percent decrease.

Pavlodar region takes third place country-wide by the passengers transported in September 2021 (57.4 million people, up by 1.9 times). The number of passengers transported in the region over the period from January through September 2021 amounted to 397.6 million, which is 15.7 percent less than during the same period last year (471.6 million people).

The least passenger volume was recorded in the Mangystau region. The transported passenger volume stood at 3.4 million in September 2021, which is 2.5 times more than in September 2020. The volume of passengers transported over nine months of 2021 was 22.2 million, which is 27.3 percent less year-on-year.
