BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 4. Uzbekistan decreased exports of fruit and vegetables to Azerbaijan by almost 2 times in January 2023, compared to the first month of 2022, Trend reports citing the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan.
In January 2023, Azerbaijan imported from Uzbekistan 500 tons of fruits and vegetables worth $700,000, while the figure was 1,100 tons in January 2022.
Overall, during the reporting period, Uzbekistan exported 67,500 tons of fruit and vegetables worth $58,400 million, which is a decrease of 11.3 tons, compared to the same period in 2022 (78,600 tons).
The main importers of Uzbek fruits and vegetables, besides Azerbaijan, were Kazakhstan (23,500 tons), Russia (15,300 tons), China (7,400 tons), Kyrgyzstan (5,500 tons), Pakistan (4,800 tons), Afghanistan (2,600 tons), Türkiye (1,400 tons), Belarus (800 tons), and Iran (700 tons).
Meanwhile, in January 2023, the trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan reached $11.1 million. Exports from Uzbekistan to Azerbaijan during this period increased by 92.56 percent compared to the first month of 2022 ($4.1 million), reaching $7.9 million, while imports were – $3.3 million.
