Turkey and Russia intend to develop the payments using national currencies by elimination of the existing barriers, according to the protocol of the Russian-Turkish intergovernmental commission meeting held in Moscow, the news agency RIA Novosti reported Nov. 26.
During the meeting, the parties pointed out the absence of legal and infrastructural constraints for carrying out payments in national currencies.
At the same time, Russia and Turkey agreed to conduct work with involvement of representatives of business communities of both countries to identify the barriers hindering the growth of payments using Russian ruble and Turkish lira.
The protocol of the commission's meeting said the working group on financial and banking cooperation, taking into account the information about the detected barriers, should work further to eliminate them and to promote the increase of volume of payments in national currencies of Russia and Turkey.
