Azerbaijan records decline in exports to Turkey

The value of exports from Azerbaijan to Turkey exceeded $1.75 billion from January through August 2021, which is 8.2 percent or $159 million less compared to the same period of 2020, Trend reports citing the statistical bulletin of the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan.

Turkey's share in Azerbaijan's total exports in the specified period amounted to 13.58 percent, while a year earlier - 19.38 percent.

“Azerbaijan's imports from Turkey exceeded $1.12 billion, having increased by 12.8 percent or $144.4 million on annual basis. The share of Turkey in total Azerbaijani imports for the year increased by 0.64 percent - up to 15.35 percent,” the report said.

The trade turnover between the two countries in the first 8 months of 2021 amounted to about $2.88 billion (a decrease of 0.5 percent over the year), while the trade turnover balance remained positive, settling at $628.2 million.

Azerbaijan's total foreign trade turnover for the reporting period exceeded $20.2 billion. Of these, exports accounted for $12.9 billion (63.77 percent), and imports - $7.34 billion (36.23 percent).
