( Worldcarfans ) - If you thought that the Golf R32 or Passat R36 were the pinnacle of power at Volkswagen, then be prepared to have your world rocked. Next week on October 11 Volkswagen will reveal their all new Volkswagen Touareg R50 at the Australian International Motor Show (AIMS) in Sydney. The VW Touareg R50 is claimed to be one of the most powerful SUV in the world, which is saying something when the Porsche Cayenne Turbo counts 500 hp, BMW's top-of-the-line X5 4.8i M comes in at 355 hp (but there is a X5 M on the way of course) and the Lexus LX 570 puts 381 hp to the road.
The Touareg R50 is based on the current V10 TDI model but with a 'generous' power increase over the 230 kW (313 hp) and 750 Nm torque. The R50 also sports bigger wheels, tires and tweaked suspension and is the third model in the VW sporty R line. The interior and exterior have been redone by Volkswagen Inidividual GmbH to reflect the R philosophy.
