Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev and the President of the Swiss Confederation Didier Burkhalter discussed bilateral cooperation within the meeting on Nov. 20, Kazakh presidency reported.

Didier Burkhalter is on his first official visit to Astana.

"During the meeting, the two leaders discussed the issues of strengthening cooperation in trade, economic, investment, cultural and humanitarian spheres," the presidency said.

The parties also exchanged views on relevant issues of the international agenda.

Moreover, Nursultan Nazarbayev and Didier Burkhalter, who chairs the OSCE, touched upon the key aspects of the current activity of the organization.

Kazakh President noted that Switzerland is an important economic partner of Kazakhstan in Europe.

Switzerland has invested about $12 billion in Kazakhstan since 2005 and about 50 Swiss companies and joint ventures are working in Kazakhstan. Moreover the countries actively cooperate both in foreign policy and on domestic issues, he said.

The President of Switzerland in turn noted that the bilateral relations between the countries are at the high level and emphasized that there are a number of promising areas for further cooperation.
