In the next 40 years, it is necessary to expand the number of cereal fields at least by two times, said the President of Kazakhstan during the third session of the Astana Club themed Big Eurasia-2027: Confrontation or Partnership.

“It is important to intensify the develop agriculture industry of the Eurasian countries, including Kazakhstan, which is a major producer of food products,” said Nazarbayev, Kazakh media reported.

Kazakh president stressed that the food crisis in certain regions of the world is inevitable, given that the growth of population on the planet, and that it will lead to declining of soil fertility.

Nursultan Nazarbayev also touched upon the worldwide fresh water issue.

“Problems with limited resources for people's livelihoods remain on the agenda without due attention. First of all, it concerns lack of fresh water. This issue becomes a source of contradictions. The scarcity of water resources has already aggravated relations between Pakistan and India. There is a high probability of exacerbation of the same problems in the Middle East and Central Asian countries,” said the president.
