BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 13. Kyrgyzstan has had 1,300 operating greenhouses in the country in the area of more than 173 hectares, as of January 1, 2023, Trend reports via the Ministry of Agriculture of Kyrgyzstan.

According to the ministry, the largest amount (602 greenhouses) is in Jalal-Abad region, in southwestern Kyrgyzstan, while Chuy region leads in terms of the greenhouse area (68.8 hectares).

Jalal-Abad region - 602 greenhouses within the area of 33.6 hectares;

Osh region - 346 greenhouses within the area of 49 hectares;

Batken region - 161 greenhouses within the area of 4.9 hectares;

Chui region - 97 greenhouses within the area of 68.8 hectares;

Issyk-Kul region- 50 greenhouses within the area of 2.4 hectares;

Naryn region - 34 greenhouses within the area of 13.9 hectares;

Talas region - 10 greenhouses within the area of 1 hectare.

Meanwhile, according to State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan, Kyrgyz farmers produced agricultural products for 354.6 billion somoni ($4.1 billion) in 2022, which is an increase of 7.3 percent compared to 2021.

During the last year, harvest of sugar beet increased by 28 percent, cotton (by 14 percent), oil seeds (by 10 percent), tobacco (by 9 percent), vegetables (by 4 percent) and fruit and berry crops (by 3 percent).
