Lower Chamber of the Tajik Parliament ratified the agreement between governments of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan on mutual visa-free visits of citizens.
First Deputy Foreign Ministry of Tajikistan Nizomiddin Zohidi told MPs before the ratification that the document had passed intra-governmental procedures in Uzbekistan, Sputnik Tajikistan reported on March 19.
According to the information, the Tajik side was informed about that through diplomatic channels. Lower Chamber’s Speaker Shukurjon Zuhurov instructed to inform the Uzbek side about the document passing the necessary procedures in Tajikistan as well.
It was expected earlier that the visa-free regime for Tajik citizens in Uzbekistan will become active from March 16.
The intergovernmental agreement on mutual visa-free regime on 30-day long visits for citizens of the two countries was signed during the Uzbek President’s Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s official visit to Tajikistan.
