Uzbekistan’s 1Q2021 export of fruit and vegetable products slightly down

Export of fruit and vegetable products in Uzbekistan during the first three months of 2021 decreased by 1.9 percent compared to the same period in 2020, Trend reports referring to the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan.

According to the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan, 218,000 tons of fruits and vegetables worth $133.8 million were exported from Uzbekistan during the reported period.

In particular, 163,700 tons of vegetables were exported for $82.2 million (the growth rate in value terms, compared to the same period in 2020 amounted to 1.1 percent), as well as 28,900 tons of fruits and berries for $24.6 million (decrease in value terms, compared to the same period in 2020 amounted to 14.2 percent).

It is reported that the share of fruits and vegetables in total exports from January through March 2021 amounted to 5.6 percent.

The committee noted that Kazakhstan became the largest importer of Uzbek vegetables and fruits in value terms, importing 86,000 tons of agricultural products worth $26.5 million with a share of 19.8 percent in total exports.

The second major consumer of agricultural products from Uzbekistan was Russia, importing 39,200 tons of vegetables and fruits worth $25.9 million with a share of 19.3 in the republican export of fruits.

Also, China entered the category of large consumers of Uzbek vegetables and berries for the first time.

For three months of this year, 24,000 tons of fruit and vegetable products for $20.2 million with a specific weight of 15.1 percent were shipped to China.
