Iran Insurance Company will insure all new aircraft purchased by the country’s flag carrier, IranAir.

Mohammad Rahamati, an official with Iran Insurance Company (IIC), has said that his company is expected to cover the whole fleet of IranAir under an existing contract between the ICC and IranAir, Ibena news agency reported.

He further added that the state-run insurance company has already provided a full insurance coverage for the country’s new Airbus 321 jetliner.

According to the report, the insurance coverage for the A321 jetliner includes passenger liability insurance, third party liability insurance and airplane body insurance.

Iran took delivery of its first Western-built passenger plane in decades, following the lifting of sanctions last year.

The Airbus A321 landed in Tehran on Jan. 12 to an official ceremony that included Transport Minister Abbas Akhoundi.

Airbus signed a contract last December for the sale of 100 aircraft to Iran Air, following the implementation of the nuclear deal between the Islamic Republic and the world powers.

Airbus had earlier announced that the contract covers 46 Airbus A320 planes, 38 A330 planes and 16 A350 XWB aircraft, with deliveries due to begin in early 2017.
