Georgia sees decrease in tourist inflow from Azerbaijan

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Oct. 23

The number of Azerbaijan's tourists arriving in Georgia from January through September 2021 decreased by 79.7 percent to 57,509 visitors, compared to 283,351 people over the same period of 2020, Trend reports via Georgian National Tourism Administration.

According to the statistics, the same figure of the reporting period of 2021 has also decreased by 95.1 percent, compared to 1.1 million visitors from January through September 2019 – period before the COVID-19 pandemic.

Thus, Azerbaijan ranks 7 among the TOP-10 main countries of origin for tourists arriving in Georgia, the report said.

The total number of international visitors to Georgia decreased by 18.5 percent to 1.3 million people over first 9 months of 2021, compared to 1.5 million over the same period of 2020.

According to the statistics, the current indicator dropped by 82 percent, compared to 7.2 million visitors from January through September 2019.
