Law enforcement agencies on Thursday captured a close aide to Afghan Taliban chief Mullah Mohammad Omar in Pakistan's southern port city of Karachi, a media report said.

Sama television reported that Mullah Agha Jan Mutasem, the former chief administrator of the Taliban regime in the late 1990s, was arrested with three comrades in Karachi's Sohrab Goth area, DPA reported.

Mutasem is believed to be the Taliban's political and military strategist and a close aide to the fugitive militant chief Mullah Omar.
