Mottaki, Lavrov discuss Iran's peaceful nuclear program

(IRNA) - Iranian Foreign Minister Manuchehr Mottaki met with his Russian counterpart Thursday and discussed bilateral ties, Iran's nuclear case and other important issues.

On the sidelines of the sixth summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the two ministers also discussed holding a joint economic commission session and development of bilateral relations, reports Trend.

Stressing expansion of economic ties, the two sides underlined mutual energy cooperation and the need for compilation of the Caspian Sea legal regime.

Referring to the 5+1 Group proposal, Sergei Lavrov said Iran\'s nuclear rights within framework of the Non-Proliferation Treaty are not negotiable.

"We hope to receive Iran\'s views on adoption of an appropriate solution for settlement of the case" he said.

Mottaki for his part underlined further cooperation between Russia and Iran and hailed Moscow's stances vis-a-vis Iran\'s nuclear case.

"We are carefully examining the package of the Europeans seriously and we will declare our decisions after final examinations" he noted.

Mottaki called for further negotiations based on diplomacy.
